Classes and Workshops

Most of my classes are intentionally small, 10 to 12 maximum.
The small class allows personalized instruction for all.
This accommodates an open class where each painter works on what he or she prefers. Working this way ensures a much better outcome as painters tend to excel when the subject is inspirational.
Size of canvas and medium is optional as well. Oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil crayon, graphite or charcoal / conte. Students register monthly and pay for four classes. A missed class is not lost but credited ahead.

The tuition fee for 16 hours of instruction is $128.00 ( $8 per hour )
Classes run four hours long 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The two current locations are:

Kelowna... The games room in Missionwood Retirement Home. Just past K.L.O. on Gordon and Barnes.
                 Every Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Winfield...  The activity room in the Lake Country Seniors Center.  Bottom Woods Lake Rd.
                 Every Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

To register, or for more information....

This format is a great way to " try out'  the teacher, venue, atmosphere and, if indeed painting is something you want to pursue, as the time commitment is minimal.
Some workshops focus on a particular painting to teach various techniques. Eg. Landscape, this would cover sky, clouds, mountains, water, foliage,  time of day (lighting) and seasons. Participants take home a finished painting.

The other type of workshop is more technical, using two or three canvases to create charts of step by step subjects..

Eg......Floral Creating the perfect rose, Chart # 1  The stages of the two most commonly used leaves. Chart # 2   Participants take home two instructional charts to refer to on your next floral painting. This is a class to learn bristle control as the strokes learned are used in all paintings.
Workshops are all inclusive. Supplies include easel, canvases, palette, brushes,  paint, painting medium,p aper towel, thinner and misc. such as notepads and pens etc.  All canvases are prepped, primed with display guidelines.
Lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. Average time for a workshop is six hours, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Tuition fees ( depending on how many canvases are supplied ) $85 to $125.  Previous painters have remarked that one of the things they like is the fact that you don't have to bring a thing.     Just your enthusiasm.

The next workshop will be held on Saturday July , at the Winfield location.  This class will fill up quickly, for more information or Registration  kalmas@shaw.ca
